I just wondered if any of you EW or ED acceptances know the dates of this years William's Preview Days. Last time we visted it was really hard to get a hotel room and my mom wants to reserve one in advance for our visit if I am accepted and choose to visit.
Thanks

Likewise. I got an early write to Bowdoin and am flyin back east the second week in april. It'd be perfect (praying that i get in) if the preview days dates were around the same time.

i actually just checked the events calendar on the Williams website and there were "admissions preview" events on April 14-15. The open house days may extend beyond those two days, but for the preview days are that weekend.

I'll be a host. If I recall correctly, there's a window ranging around April 15-17th. I think they try to avoid having prefrosh visit stay over Friday/Saturday nights, for obvious reasons.

Oh prefrosh on the weekends... heh.

Monday April 16th to Tuesday April 17th

eventer -

Remember that, if you have trouble with a room and have a car, anywhere from Pittsfield to Albany or Bennington or North Adams will work as you will be really busy and not needing to leave the campus during the day. You could even stay as far away as the Northampton/Amherst area. To be workable, that will require a car, of course (something you won't need when you are a Williams student).

And lots of students will be coming on their own (the college will provide transportation from and to the airport). They will stay in the dorms (bring a sleeping bag) and won't need to book a hotel room.

Have fun.

Yeah, you'll need a sleeping bag, prefrosh usually end up sleeping on various couches around the common room or study areas.

Or, if you're really good, you could sleep with a real-life Williams student, like one of our prefrosh did in the fall...

I'll stay in the dorms but my parent(s) need a place to stay because I don't have a license (I just turned 17 last week so its not that bad...I hope).

Your parents might like to try a bed and breakfast then. They can research them online -- look in the greater Berkshire County area and on over in nearby New York and Vermont.

If they are a little ways away, it may be easier for them to go off and do their stuff (whether exploring Williamstown, going to something that's scheduled for parents, or doing something not particularly related to the college quest) and let you hang out with the students (it will probably be a very busy two days, the kind where it's hard to decide which of many competing options to pursue). You won't be needing transportation during Previews once you get to the campus and you can have all your meals on campus.

ok thanks for the help

Hi, I recieved an early write from Williams a couple of weeks ago and am considering going to the preview. I was wondering what the experiences of people who have attended this event in the past have been like.

I've heard from some that its mad boring. Others say its pretty cool, so... it sounds kind of like a crap shoot. I'd go anyway, just to meet people, though, it would probably be fun.

If you have never had an opportuntiy to visit the school, this woudl be a great opportunity to see the place where you could be spending the next 4 years while also getting an opportunity to meet with your prospective classmates.

Eph really rhymes with beef? Really? Wow.

Yes, you'll learn that at the preview days, haha.

"EPH": It's how we cull the crusty veterans from the newbies.

Has anyone in the past dont an overnight at the preview days?

What exactly happens at this "jamboree" that listed on the preview thing.

For overnights, are you pairesd with a random freshmen, or do you get a single with an entry of prefosh, seeing as many (is it about 55% or something like that?) of Freshmen will have singles?

The jamboree thing is a bunch of out performing groups (a capella, dance, chinese yo-yo, etc. etc.) putting on a show for people, they had one during first days.

You'll get a random freshman for overnights, and you'll probably end up sleeping on a couch in a common room somewhere in the frosh quad or mission. The freshmen that are your hosts don't really do much except say hi and show you around, but in most entries, if you want to, you can talk to the kids randomly hanging out in the common room. Probably a really good way to get most all of your questions answered.

I was looking forward to Previews, but now I'm not going. My grandfather's getting a big award and he wants me to push his wheelchair for him. I didn't have the heart to tell him about Previews since he's so proud of me.

My tickets are refundable so I'm thinking of visiting another time this spring. Anyone know if the Purple Key hosting thing works for accepted students? It's the weekend so I don't think Admission is open and I was just wondering if anyone had an answer before I call on Monday.
