Seriously, I had never expected myself to ask a question as that, but I read a lot of student reviews and besides many other negative references towards the size and location of Midd, it was clearly stated that there is no dating scene which somehow bothers me as Im polyamorous and I believe that relationships are an important tool towards self-transformation...

I was already accepted to Midd btw...

Another thing that worries me is the prevalence of drug use- is it that common as it appears over the internet?

Anyway, Id really apreciate to hear any opinions :) Thanks in advance!

No dating scene? What does that mean? Only anonymous hook-ups or total celibacy? What is a “date” now, anyway? Polyamorous? Lover of many, why do you need dates?
In all seriousness, some people date, some people hook-up, and some people sit in the library. I am sure you will find many self-transformative relationships(and otherwise) if you are interested.
One of my sons have been on many “dates”, doesn’t tell his mom about hook-ups(for which I am grateful), and the other is “in a relationship” which may or may not be self-transformative at times.
The drug scene at Midd is much like the “dating scene”-if you are looking for drugs, you will likely be able to find them, but “hard drugs” are relatively unpopular compared to less academic and more urban schools. Marijuana is nowhere near as popular as alcohol, or as at a more “hipster” school like Vassar. My sons know of students expelled for dealing, so the Midd administration doesn’t ignore such behavior.

Definitely much more of a hook up scene, but dating exists, you just have to take the initiative. Drug use is also not that big, people smoke weed but that’s really about it and even that is not a majority

For dating, the trend is definitely toward hooking up, and most relationships start as hookups, but there ARE people in relationships.

For drugs, they’re a little more prevalent than some seem to think. When I went to Middlebury (graduated 2011), plenty of people smoked weed, granted that alcohol was the drug choice. MDMA (molly/ecstasy/etc) got to be pretty popular by the time I graduated. There was a very small amount of cocaine around, but it was terrible quality and few people did it. I heard about people doing heroin when I was a freshman, although I never saw or heard about it after that.
