i was accepted to brandeis recently and love almost everything about it… the only reservation i have is that it’s student body is sometimes considered ugly… not that this would be a deciding factor in where i go to school next year, but it is still a concern – how is the dating scene at Brandeis?

branfan 09, I’ll let current students respond about the dating scene. However, this “ugly student” thing is ridiculous. It certainly wasn’t true in my time there nor is it now from what I have observed. Although beauty is in the eye of the beholder, click on this link and take a look at this picture of Brandeis students—men and women—appearing on the Admitted Students day page of the Admissions Office website. Judge for yourself:

Plus, not that an intellectual school like Brandeis would be know for glamorous students, but it is worth noting that some now-famous, glamorous actresses have roamed the campus in the seventies, eighties and nineties, to name a few: Debra Messing (“Will and Grace”), Robin Weigert (HBO’s “Deadwood”), Lorretta Devine (Broadway’s "Dream Girl"s, TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy”), Gates McFadden (Dr. Beverly Crusher–“Star Trek TNG” and male actors too. With a nationally-recognized theater program, you’re bound to have folks whose looks are their stock in trade so to speak.

hey , Branfan09,that is a good question …lol I was thinking about that too …I know that I probably should not care about how people look at Brandeis , but I thought it would be cool to see cute guys over the campus . :)

lol my thoughts exactly :)

besides the dating scene, hows the partying scene on campus?

there are parties on- and off- campus on both friday and saturday night. period.

I suspect that the knock about supposedly unattractive students refers to the males, not so much the females.

branfan, you should not go Brandeis if this is your only concern. Go study someplace where everyone is “beautiful”. How shallow…

wow, thanks workingmom – that’s a very helpful answer! i guess the words, “not that this would be a deciding factor in where i go to school next year” don’t mean anything to you…

pardon me for taking an interest in the school’s social life…!

I think everybody who wants to go to Brandeis is trying to know everything about this University , and social life is a part of the college life , a really important part of college life actually … you will have to spend time with students around for 4 years , not 4 days .right ? Branfan09, since we are 2013 , you’d better check out the Brandeis 2013 on facebook , I think there are many smart , interesting and good-looking ppl on facebook, they are so cooooool ~I’m sure u can find friends who have the same interests as u ~~~

that’s a really good idea, AlinaQ… actually i just sent in my deposit, so now i’m off to join the facebook group :P
