Last week, near Cabell Hall, my daughter was approached from behind by an older man and asked if she would model for him. He handed her a business card, but his appearance and boldness startled her somewhat. After class and later at night, she was a little uneasy walking back to her dorm. Should she report this to the Campus Police?

That's weird as hell. If she's in a dorm, does she have an RA? They probably know more about how to handle these kinds of things.

Yes - she absolutely should report it to the campus police.

I'd make sure to give the business card to the police, too. The guy sounds like a sleazebag.

she could report it, but it isn't like the guy did anything illegal.

She should copy the card and keep it for information. And give it to Campus Police. Please. Ask them to get back to her regarding assessing risk when they have looked into it. We have two murder cases in the papers Virginia at the moment that featured photography of younger women. He could be OK< but allow the Campus police to monitor. Sometimes they have information that puts all things in perspective.

Tell your daughter to WATCH OUT. For her safety and for the safety of the other girls on campus, REPORT THIS TO CAMPUS POLICE. I suggest telling your daughter to walk with a male or in a group of people instead of alone, whenever possible.

Model? While it never hurts to ask, if this guy is innocent and legit, there will be no problem when the campus police call him. Like my Special Forces friends say: "it's always the hit dog that hollars"
Your daughter should give the card to campus police and ask that they call him to just verify what's what.

Unless this guy is steve gong, report to police.

Steve Gong is a real photographer. and he shoots model pictures a lot.

wahoofan,
what ever happened with this?
