This may not be a popular response but I’ve worked with teenagers for 27 years, have two D’s of my own (24 & 19, who are very social & attract quite a bit of “male attention”) & I know these things happen, but to have all 3 happen over a short time span( both of my D’s say none of these 3 things have ever happened to them), I would conclude: 1) The girl is engaging in some high risk behavior and / or 2) For whatever reason she is embellishing the stories to her mother…perhaps she is struggling emotionally being away from home, in a situation that is very different from college.

csdad - the thingsyou mention sound like possibilities. OP - can you tell us what you mean by late teens? HS or college aged? In any case, maybe having her come home is the best plan.

Getting flashed is not unusual and likely makes more of an impression the less savvy you are. These three things probably happen to quite a few young women in a short time span on college campuses every year. Maybe your social daughters are more versed in handling attention or maybe they’re just lucky. I was flashed walking to school - not exactly high risk behavior.

I think of the flashing and even the kissing as non events… it’s the other situation I think it a real concern.

She could have had her drink spiked. My D, who is 20, doesn’t drink, but I have told her to never put her water bottle down at a party because GHB is colorless and odorless. When I was younger, I used to take my drink to the toilet with me if I was at a bar.

As for the groping, it happens. I remember being about 14 and walking to the school bus when a boy reached out and grabbed my breast as he passed me. I yelled but he just laughed and ran away after calling me a racial epithet. To this day, it angers me to think about it. Another time, I was 17 and on the subway, which was really crowded. I was leaning on the pole in the middle of the car because there was no room to hold on and my hand was hanging at my side. I felt something brush it and looked down and there was a ***** against my hand. I immediately scrunched my hand up, tight as I could, and squeezed so hard my nails drew blood from him. He screamed bloody murder and I yelled - he’s flashing me - and 3 guys dragged him off the train at the next stop. I didn’t read about a murder in the paper the next day, but I really hope they beat the daylights out of him.

Another time, I was riding the express bus, which is high up and glanced out the window. A cabdriver in the next lane was masturbating. Fortunately, he did not have passengers! Only in NY.

If this story is true, and I am giving it the benefit of the doubt, be grateful your daughter told you. I was date raped at 17 - no drinking involved but I wound up alone with this guy and my friend at his house in the country. There was a bad storm so we couldn’t get back to our friends’ house. His dad was a pharmacist and I believe he drugged my friend because she slept like a dead person while he chased me around the house. I was shocked because he was Orthodox! Anyway, I never told my mother till the day she died so you have a chance to help your D that I never had from my mom.

Good luck.

If my daughter thought she was attacked while passed out drunk, I would not post to CC and ask bored anonymous Internet posters what I should do about it. I would call the police and let them tell me what to do. If I were a bored anonymous Internet poster on the other hand, I might post such a story here just to see what people say.

If my daughter thought she was attacked while passed out drunk, I would not post to CC with the title “Daughter Harassed”! July is ■■■■■ month.

■■■■■ or not, lets hope that advice that we give will hep the next parent or student that searches for help in the future.
