Is this accurate? She got her official score report today from the mail and I'm a bit baffled by it. Isn't 800 a perfect score? How come her percentile was 88? Her world history score was 770 and the percentile was 90. Her lit was 750 and the percentile was 94. Do these look correct at all?

Get used to it. I got an 800 2, a lot of ppl did. The curve is pretty generous compared to other tests, 800 is like -10+.

Yes, because the curves are different for the Subject Tests. The Math II test is curved so that about 12% of test-takers score an 800, so an 800 on the Math II is in the 88th percentile. World History and Lit are curved more harshly, so a lower score would still be at a higher percentile.

800 is a perfect score. Percentile is the percentage of people who scored below her. Therefore, 88% of people did NOT get an 800, and the other 12% did.

The percentiles are correct. The percentiles are lower on subject tests for high scores because 1) there are generous curves and 2) the population subset that takes subject tests is substantially smarter than the general SAT-taking population

Congrats to her that’s great

An 800 in Math is on the 99th percentile. A 770 in World History, places her on 93 percentile. A literature score of 750 is one the 94th percentile. You should definitley call College Board and verify this…

She meant math 2…math 1 is prob 99 percentile cuz the curve is crazy

Okay now I understand it. Thanks for the explanation. I also searched some more on the SAT board and found a 2009 tabulation showing the different percentiles for different subjects. Apparently math 1 800 is 99 percentile but Math 2 800 is 88. I have just been used to interpreting a perfect score as 99%ile. I’m very happy with her scores. It’s just more impressive to look at the raw scores than the percentile, though:)

one of my track friends got an 800 on math 1…pretty dirty

math 2 is easier to get an 800 but harder material…and colleges like math 2 better…kind of a no brainer if you ask me

Congratulations: top 12% in Math is great. Her percentile is even higher among women.

@glido lol

While I think 800 is the highest score you can get, it is not a perfect score. You can miss a few questions. Isn’t that why they call it a curve? I really don’t know. I am speculating. Although not as good as an 800 on the SAT I Math test, it will help.

Cool but 800 is THE highest score you can get so it is a perfect score and CollegeBoard doesn’t release your raw score for the Subject tests so you can’t find out if you got every question right.

in math IIC you can miss like 5 questions and still get an 800
whereas in the math IC if you miss 1 question you drop immediately
