D will be visiting in Kalamazoo in a month for an awards banquet. Very excited for her. CC has been one of the great tools that has helped make this college search process so much easier. As a family, we've come a long way from a year ago--when we were just getting a sense of how it all worked! Any great KZOO stories out there?

My son is K’12; if I can be of any help, please contact me. He did LandSea (which he greatly enjoyed and probably made life long friends), got a HHMI research grant for sophomore summer, and did study abroad in Ecuador his junior year. So the K-Plan is a reality for him.

Would cincur with UT that LandSea is a wonderful experience–my son made some good friends, and I think the whole experience made his transition to college much easier than it would have been had he not gone. He is finishing up his 2nd quarter and seems to be enjoying his coursework, and likes his insturctors. Lots of opportunities to do “stuff” outside of class—he is doing a weekly show on the college radio station, writing for the newspaper, and doing tours for new students. I think Kzoo was a great match for him.

Thank you for this feedback. We’re very excited for D. Looking forward to her finally visiting the campus (we’re from Seattle area) & being among the student body. Have read many great things about the school. :)

Oompaloompa,

What is the awards banquet she is attending?

Congratulations! I will be visiting in Late April; Hopefully attending!

Anne

Annetaylor124,

It’s for merit aid received. I believe she is going to be there on April 17-18th. If you are going there @ that time, you will be bumping into one another! ):D

Oompaloompa, do you know, is it for an Enlightened Leadership scholarship? DD was hoping for one of those and wondering if the notificaitons have already gone out.

Also meant to add - we know a few people who went to Kalamzoo, one is a senior and the other graduated last year, and they both had great things to say about it :)

mommapalooza, I’ve got to ask my D about that. She will be finding out for herself in a few short weeks–which will be very good for her (will be her first time to Michigan). Seem’s like D has travelled as much past year by way of college search, as we parents have in past five ~ lol. It’s an exciting heady time for them. :)

I called admissions, and they said those decisions are being sent out around this week. Has anyone received acceptance packages yet?

I will be visiting April 20th, and then I will make my decision.

Anne

When I said those decisions I mean the enlightened leaders awards

Sadly, D received the letter today that she wasn’t selected Some tough competition I’m sure; good luck to Annetaylor 124 and anyone else still waiting!

Aw man! I will check my mail more tomorrow because I haven’t heard anything. Is your D considering attending K? And, I’ll keep you all posted if I hear anything! I heard it was very tough this year for enlightened leaders

Is anyone here considering attending “K?”

I will be going to K this fall! Too excited to go!

I would have gone had I received an Enlightened Leadership Scholarship as that, coupled with the scholarship they gave me on admission, would have brought the cost down to approximately what my state flagship university (Univ. of Colorado) costs. Was looking forward to playing tennis for Kzoo but will now play club for CU. Have fun at Kzoo!
