Daughter was admitted into San Diego State University's nursing program as a Freshmen...

She got her acceptance letter tonight, but I'm confused. It says "you are one the the rare freshmen being admitted into the school of nursing." But neither of us thought that was possible. We thought you got into the university and then 2 years later you applied to the school of nursing, once you got your prereqs done. That's the impression the website gave during the application process.

Does anyone know? If she's in the school of nursing, she would be ELATED!

You may also want to post on the Nursing Major forum.

Didn’t know there was one. Thx

Congrats to her. Sounds like they really wanted to make sure she enrolls.

You probably already know this by now, but SDSU changed their program starting in the Fall of 2014. It used to be that you had to take the prerequisites and THEN apply to the nursing program after two years. Starting in the fall of 2014, the program changed. Now they are admitting freshmen DIRECTLY into the program. As long as you maintain minimum grade requirements, you will remain in the program. Your major will still be “pre nursing” until all pre requisite classes have been passed with a minimum B or better. Then y ou will be changed to Nursing. I know, this was FANTASTIC news to us as my daughter is also a nursing student. This was a major factor in her deciding to accept her admission to SDSU as there are not many programs that do it this way.
