Daughter with Severe Anxiety and Transfer?

I don’t think they would be notified by any school or the hospital unless you gave permission. HIPAA regulations.

Hello everyone! UPDATE: Daughter is in an Intensive Outpatient Program for anxiety and depression. This is the most important thing right now and we are glad she can benefit from it. First! we help with the mental health issues. School choice for the fall semester is secondary. If you want to ask about which program/center she is in, send me a private message. Thanks to all for the advice.

So glad to read that she is getting more intensive help. As for school, she does not need to matriculate anywhere necessarily. She can take one or two classes as an unmatriculated student and build a record of success. She can also wait. Lots of time in life! Hoping for some relief for her- and you!

Please do not reveal “which program/center she is in” as this is very personal information.

Warm wishes to you. I hope she’ll feel better little by little or all of a sudden. College will still be there in the Spring or next Fall.

A few comments.

-Thank you for following up. I am thrilled that your D is getting the help she needs. College will be there when she is ready. When the time is right you can work with her therapists to come up with a plan that will work better for her (maybe starting part-time, committing, finding a better match school etc.). Life is a marathon, not a sprint so there is no need to rush the next step.

-I would still contact the old school and see if there is any possibility of your D getting a retroactive medical withdrawal from the first semester so when that time does come to re-start college she can do so with a clean slate.

-And waaay in the future…some people mentioned that a large college may be better but don’t forget that there are also mid-size colleges. My S found mid-size university to be the right mix where he wasn’t so exposed (in the classroom, socially etc.) but yet also didn’t get lost.

I wouldn’t reveal that in the main discussion. I was trying to communicate to others that there is a program that is actually nationwide that is helpful. And that I would tell people about it via private message if anyone could use the information. That’s all. But thanks for the tip.
