No legacy connections but have good rec's. She is a very good writer so we hope for a good essay.

My sons love Villanova too, calling it the Notre Dame of the East. ONly thing they don't like is Philadelphia. Maybe you'll all be on campus together.

From what I've seen from other boards, etc., I'd say it looks like she's in.

Only thing that concerns me... what's a "women's clinic?" There is a new/restored feeling on campus which is running definitely to the anti-abortion sentiment. I think her chances would be jeopardized if she was working at a Planned Parenthood or similar clinic.

I'd say good chances. I'll be applying to nova as well in the fall, but not early action.

My best friend applied EA last year and was deferred then ultimately waitlisted and completely shocked me. She had 2050 SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, President of NHS and Class Treasurer, School President, I mean perfect applicant so I was surprised by that. My stats are near hers but not completely to her level so I'm a little nervous. So I would say great chances, but after her I don't really know. She's going to Cornell so it worked out for her in the end. Sorry I don't mean to discourage you!

In regards to the women's clinic "dilemma", there is absolutely no need to have your daughter remove this from her application. A University (Catholic or not), has no right to deny admission to any student for such a reason. I am a Sophomore here at Villanova and I know that a student would not be rejected simply because he/she worked at a women's clinic. Additionally, here at Villanova we like to say that we are Catholic and catholic. The word "catholic" means universal and all inclusive. We strive for diversity here, and that includes having people both in support and opposition to important topics such as abortion.

PS. Your daughter sounds like she has a great shot at getting in.

MY DD was accepted into nova and BC last april with similar/strong stats ( top 5%, 95% gpa, SAT 2010, 5 AP's...scored 5 on 4 of them, 680 and 750 on SAT 2"S, strong EC's 2 varsity sports, class officer, clubs and volunteer, etc

THo she really liked villanova and other small LAC's she ultimately chose BC. She applied reg decision to all

No, actually, you are incorrect, a private university has the "right" to deny ANYONE for ANY reason they want to, they might not say its because of the abortion thing, they might just say somthing like "we just didnt believe this would be the best place for her" If I were you, and it was a baby killing (thats what abortion is, so i dont want to hear some fool call me heartless) clinic than I would STRONGLY suggest you leave it out, the rest of her application is very good, I would say she is in, she could get in better places than villanova with those stats anyway.
