My daughter is interested in UVM because she's a figure skater and they have a collegiate team. I"m not sure she's got the grades to get in:

Unweighted GPA: 2.8, Weighted 3.5
ACT: 27
SAT: 1910
CR: 630
Math: 590
Writing: 690
Two AP classes Junior Year and all other honors or college prep.
Senior year, full course load with 3 AP classes (Psych, Bio & Euro History)
Many hours of community service

She's been training heavily over the past two years and her grades suffered for it. Any chance they'll consider her with this GPA?

I believe your daughter has a very good chance. Her test scores are very good (I believe a 1910 is above the average accepted at UVM). Her weighted gpa is good and although her unweighted is a bit under the average acceptance, I still believe the level of courses she has taken and is taking will help her tremendously!

I think she will get in. I’ve been told to get in early admissions you need to have higher grades, but this grade/SAT combination should make it in regular admissions. Really play up the skating committment in the application. Sounds like an essay topic.

If she is recruited for the skating team, then it’s a done deal.

Your daughter’s chances of getting in can be greatly enhanced if the coach wants her for the team. If that team has some admissions slots reserved for it, the coach’s influence can be significant. Contact the coach, rather than waiting for the coach to find out about her.
