Daughters of the American Revolution

Does anyone know what role being a member of DAR plays in college admissions, financial aid and scholarhships?

If you are involved in the organization (not just a member) then it’s an EC. Nothing more. Perhaps it could be a source for an essay.

My daughter joined the DAR when she was 18 (minimum age to join) so it was too late to list on her apps, but if you’ve been involved with your chapter since you joined at 18, and if you did other things showing an interest in history or genealogy, it would be good to talk to. Or if you were a member of CAR (Children of the American Revolution) and want to talk about it in a supplement or essay, it might help. DAR Headquarters posts annual essay writing contests – if you entered one and won, it would be to mention.

Sorry for the typos – I miss the “edit” function.
Good luck!

Class of 2015. There is a little widget on the right side of your post. Click on that and you will be able to edit your post.

I still can’t figure out how to find a posters past post though.

@deb22, click on the poster’s name. When the new page comes up, look in the left hand column for the options to see the poster’s threads and replies. Click again, and they will appear starting with the most recent.

Isn’t it a shame we have to fumble around this way on the “new and improved” site?

Thanks deb, but I can’t find it. Widgets are small and furry, right?

Thanks momma j. I didn’t look far enough left lol!

Classof2015, it’s in the upper right hand side and looks like a little black gear thingy! I know I’m so technical. That black symbol will be there for an hour after you post.
