I have a question about Davidson College’s art supplement. I am interested in submitting one for theater. Theater has been a very important part of my high school career, but not gonna be my major. Planning on Chem. Anyways, I’ve held leads in quite a few, and currently I am Maria in the Sound of Music. By no means am I a professional, but singing is my strong suit. So I want to submit a video of me performing “The Hills Are Alive” My theater is crappy, so not a professional space. My school is in a rural area, so I’m not as experienced as others. But I think I am pretty good at what I do, and thats why I land the roles I get. Should I submit one? I’ve heard the stigma behind it and how it can hurt your application if you don’t measure up to the higher ranked students with more experience. But theater is an important part of my application and regardless of my major I still want it to be in my life, and I want admissions to see that. But I don’t want to submit anything that would hurt me.
I would be in costume, but no sets since we are performing in January. Also do you think I could merge a scene and song into one video?
Advice? Thanks!
