Anyone have any insight on the business program?

I don’t think Davidson teaches business as an undergrad degree. That is one of the main reasons we had to look elsewhere.

It’s fine to focus on “liberal arts,” but it amazes me the number of schools who offer majors in obscure subjects like Eastern Russian Language Arts or what have you but do not teach a business program. The curriculum, apparently, is based on the needs of students in 1842 and not 2011.

Just my humble opinion. Otherwise, Davidson is an amazing, but far too tiny, school.

For the record, Davidson does not offer obscure majors like the one ACCecil mentioned. Unless you consider Latin American Studies or Environmental Studies obscure.

I won’t go into a defense of the liberal arts over pre-professional careerism, but I’m glad that there are still schools like Davidson that believe in the life of the mind and not the life of the wallet.

Grabler,

That’s nice.

You can develop your mind quite a bit with a business education and the last I checked it was okay to create wealth in this country.

At least at Davidson one need not go poor developing the life of the mind. Davidson puts its ideals into exceptional FA. As far as FA, Davidson is one of the best U’s in the country. Many schools TALK about providing affordable and accesable education … Davidson puts its money where its mouth is. Great school. Still, I wish it had an UG business program.
