Hi all!
Today I received an interesting letter in the mail from the Vice President of Davidson College. In it, he (the vice president) told my father (a teacher/doctor at Mount Sinai hospital) that he “valued” that my father worked as an education specialist. He ended the letter by saying that my father should call if he had any questions about the application process. Has anyone else gotten a similar letter/know if this is a personal letter?
Thanks
That’s interesting.
H is also an education specialist but at a Catholic high school. If the Vice President values H’s work as much as your father’s at Mount Sinai and sends a letter, I’ll let you know because I would be very impressed.
Got the same exact letter that you’re referring to a few years back when I applied. Dad works in higher ed and has for many years. It’s been awhile but I’m pretty sure you have to put parent’s employment on the common app, right? I think that’s how they know. Once they pretty much know who they’re going to accept they seem to reach out to any of those kids whose parents work in education in some capacity. Can’t say I fully understand the exact reason why, maybe something about the greater education community and connections there. Knowing some of the people who work there, they honestly do probably value the input of people who they know understand their industry and have experience in similar fields. If you’re an ED applicant I’m pretty sure you hear back in the coming weeks, so best of luck!
@wildcat30 so ur saying that, most likely, they send these letters to kids who are accepted?
