I am deciding between whether I want to go to Davidson College or the College of William and Mary, and I’m having a really hard time picking. I know in college I want to go on a premed track majoring and chemistry or possibly do something with computer science. I also know that in college I want to be able to have fun on the weekends (partying and being able to make friends easily). With that in mind, which college do you think would be better for me?
Both schools are very well regarded academically. I believe Davidson is known for grade deflation. William and mary has about 3-4x as many students. I’ve only been to w&m and fell in love with it because it’s a beautiful campus. Overall I think either would be fine, and you should choose based on personal preference and which one is cheaper.
William/Mary. Davidson doesn’t have CS, only Chem & William/Mary has Chem & CS. I don’t know how these schools rank for Pre-Med.
I do know Williamsburg because I traveled there often & it is a medium sized town w/ plenty of charm. There’s a Busch Gardens & a strip of restaurants & more. There’s History & Museum attractions w/ Colonial Williamsburg & Ripley’s. Williamsburg is a tourist town, however I’m not so sure how it is as a college town. It has a small town feel with stuff to to. Not sure how it is for interactions with other colleges, nightlife, & parties.
Davidson has a small enrollment for a college so Idk how it is for parties.
Both don’t seem like ideal party schools.
My advice is to visit them to get the best feel & see what is affordable.
