Can I get anybody to chance me for Davidson, Emory, Brandeis, URochester, and USC?

I would greatly appreciate it!

SO many views and no replies!

Ok keep in mind I’m a high school senior like you so I am not an expert, but here’s my impression

Davidson-- Excellent shot
Brandeis-- Ditto
Emory-- little iffier but definitely worth a shot
I’m not familiar with USC and Rochester (sorry!)

Good luck! Congrats on being ranked 2nd in your class-- you’re going to have some great options.

Thank you so much sarah.
Can anybody else offer input?

I think your into all those schools!

soupsong, I think you might be a little TOO optimistic
Thanks!

Id say match for all

Id say you are in to all except USC may deny you. So much of their admitted students are legacies which makes it much harder for non-legacies to get accepted. Excellent class rank though, and your SAT is on par with all of those schools.

I’d saw 100% Brandeis, 90% Rochester, 80% Emory, 80% Davidson, 60% USC

Thanks a lot for your posts guys.
Did you all notice that my class rank is 2/19? That puts me outside top 10% (11% exactly).
I wanted to make sure you all were taking that into consideration. It has really been worrying me.

Wow, I didn’t even notice that you had a class of 19 kids. In this case, I highly doubt that colleges will mind if you’re “only” in the top 11% considering there is only one other student ranked above you. Don’t worry; you’ll be fine.

Alright thanks a lot Deke.
A big relief came today with Rochester’s admissions packet! I was so excited! I guess now I just have to worry about the other 4
USC has been my top choice, but I’m not as excited about it as I once was, which may be a good thing if you all think I have the lowest chance there. USC’s acceptance rate will probably drop significantly this year with the introduction of the commonapp.
I always thought Emory would be the one I had a slim chance at…

I admittedly don’t know much about Emory other than information from students from my area who were accepted with similar, if not lower stats than you. (Similar educational environment and EC’s as you.) Of course, I’m from central NY so that could have changed the admissions data. I’d definitely be shocked if you don’t get into Brandeis, though. As for Davidson, being the size that they are they can sometimes make odd admissions decisions, but your grades are amazing and your small school definitely provides you with an interesting educational background, which I think will definitely be helpful. I also applied to Davidson, but that’s the only school where we overlap. But good luck, I’m sure you’re going to be able to choose between some great schools, and congrats on Rochester!

You are not in the top 10% of your class; unfortunately for you, 84% of students at Emory were in the top 10%, so you can kiss your chances good bye

Okay, thanks again Deke

@box- That’s why I have been so worried about the percentile thing. But that 84% means 16% made it in outside of top 10% highschool class. I feel like I am a prime applicant to fit into that 16% because my school is too tiny to give an accurate reading of where I really should rank, and additionally because even if I DID fall outside 10% legitimately from a bigger sample of students, I hit right at 11%.
I also believe Emory has DIII athletics, which means the “underqualified athletes” will make up an extremely small percentage of admits.

Can anybody else give opinions?
