Decision is getting tough, thoughts on each of the three? Pros and Cons of each place? I need some help deciding!

As a current Davidson student, who had 1 sister go to Emory and 1 to Davidson… I’ll tell you what they told me…

My oldest sister attended Emory, and found that it was very money-focused and judgment-driven… she disliked how everyone seemed to feel it necessary to flaunt their money, their grades, etc. She also didn’t like how impersonal the atmosphere felt – 1 of her classes was overfull, so she was forced to watch the lecture ON TV in another room. She ended up staying there, but said that if she could do it again Emory would not be the place for her

My 2 sisters applied and got into Washington & Lee but neither attended… I never asked why

My 2nd oldest sister went to Davidson (just graduated last year, now at med school). She said she would absolutely come to Davidson again, and I agree that it is a great place. While everyone here is driven to succeed, it is not an atmosphere where you feel like you’re competing with the people around you. Some people talk about their grades, others don’t, but generally speaking nobody really cares because they are here to do their best, not compare themselves with you. Additionally, as I’m sure you’ve read everywhere, Davidson professors and staff care about their students, and classes will NEVER be taught by anyone other than the professor (obviously… since we don’t have grad students)

Don’t know if this helped at all, but this is just my family’s experience

I took Davidson over Emory. Emory felt impersonal to me. Also, I think I would have taken Davidson over W&L too, because W&L is so isolated. Davidson at least is pretty close to Charlotte and there’s more to do than just party.
