Davidson Honor Code Essay HELP

Davidson is an academically and socially engaged community bound by
an Honor Code and committed to thoughtful discourse and an abiding sense of inclusiveness. Reflecting on your own background and educational experience, in what ways is Davidson a good match and how might you enrich this community?

This is what I wrote, but I just seem to be having trouble with this essay more than any other.

I visited Davidson during Labor Day Weekend, not the ideal time to get a feel for a school’s population, on one of those dreaded college death-marches which leave students and parents cranky, exhausted, and behind on schoolwork. Every other school I visited that weekend was somewhat empty and quiet. Davidson was not. From the moment my mom and I drove onto campus, clearly not knowing where we were going, we were bombarded with students offering directions, screaming “Go Wildcats!” out of car windows, and telling us exactly why I should choose Davidson. I think, just maybe, that they liked being there. Just maybe.
The point of describing this aspect of my visit is to tell you that I value school spirit and community above all in a college – or any school for that matter. I go to a high school where we love our abysmal failure of a football team and go to other schools’ games because one of their players used to be one of us. I proudly wear our illness-inducing school colors (yes, they’re that bad) because I love my school and am proud to be a student there.
Now of course I realize you can’t state the personality of a school based off of one visit; but everything I have since read or heard has confirmed my initial impressions of Davidson. It is a school that is defined by the students’ honesty and their commitment to the school itself -- once a Davidson student always a Davidson student.
So how is Davidson a good match? I value honesty and transparency in people above all and I have an almost unhealthy sense of loyalty, which applies not only to friends, but also to my community, especially a community such as a school, which truly gives back to its members. So I hope that Davidson would be as proud to have me wearing that Wildcats sweatshirt as I would be to wear it – I’ll be the girl screaming out her car window.

I’m just the parent of a prospective Davidson student. We have visited the school twice and my daughter has taken an “official” weekend visit as she’ll be playing a sport. We have had Davidson on our radar screen for a long time, and I would say that we have gotten the same vibe you gleaned from your visit. We have also spoken to many enthusiastic alumni and a few Davidson townies who have great things to say about the students. I think the school puts a lot of emphasis on loyalty and a burning desire to be part of their community. It sounds, from your essay, like you are a good match in those areas.
