Hi,

I'm currently admitted to Davidson and Notre Dame, and it's been a long struggle to decide which one to go for. Personally I don't care about name recognition, but am a fan of a quality education. How strong is the department of English at ND? Its graduate ranking is only about #46 I think...? Do you find the classes too big? Do the professors truly care about students? example?
How easy is it to double major in English and Finance? I was so disappointed to find the requirement for Finance major to be 60 credits (including the Mendoza school requirements).

Thank you for any advice!

Don’t worry about graduate rankings. Notre Dame focuses on undergraduate education (though a number of its graduate programs are top-notch), as evidenced by [this ranking for quality of undergraduate education.](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/undergraduate-teaching) Rankings in general have issues, but this at least pertains to your undergraduate education.

Further, you need to examine the things you’re looking for in a campus and community, as well as the environment you want to be in. I strongly suggest visiting your different options, if possible.

And, of course, only attend a school that you can afford. No school, no matter how good, is worth $200,000 in debt.

Thanks for the reply! The undergrad education quality is surely impressive! haha so it Davidson’s, at #2 in liberal arts…
Indeed, I don’t come from a rich family, only paying about 15 grand a year for ND, maybe 13 grand for Davidson.
As in the community feel, I’m a conservative protestant, may I suppose most of the profs are ND would be conservative?
Both schools have great sports… it’s hard to judge you see…

Have you been able to visit both?

Not yet.
good reminder =]
