If you look at the bottom of your screen you should see a link to click on another letter, the aid letter.
I thought 540 was the number they plan to enroll, not the number of admits. If they accept twice as many to account for anticipated yield the rate is more like 16%. Still very selective.
S is accepted!
Oh yes, you’re right! I was like how did Davidson’s acceptance rate become this low, and definitely still super selective.
that’s not the way it works. The accept more than the 540 that make the class, probably three times more at least. They likely accepted something like 1500 or more. Acceptance rate would then be more like 24%
D21 was accepted. She is thrilled!
My D got in too!
The Waitlist FAQ shows the number of students admitted off the waitlist for the last few years. For last year, it was 50. The waitlist is almost certain to be as or more significant this year. From what I’ve seen on CC, there are so many high stats kids who have applied to all the same schools as me. But we can each only go to 1.
Any idea how many are on the waitlist??
Is anyone here from NC? I honestly kind of expected a waitlist or rejection early on because so many people apply from inside the state.
Im from nc and I got waitlisted
Team!
I got in! Couldn’t be happier, hopefully I can go down to NC over April Break and see campus again before I decide
D21 was waitlisted. Accepted at Wake Forest yesterday though
The Davidson common data set for last year does not show how many applicants were waitlisted. My letter just says I am part of a “very select” group.
Last year, 5,621 people applied. Davidson admitted 1,124. That’s a rate about 20%. They enrolled 520. That’s a yield of 46%. (50 of those enrolled were from the waitlist).
For this year, 6,400 people applied. They want to enroll 540. If their yield stays the same, that means they needed to admit 1,174. If that’s what they did, they admitted 18.3% this year.
However, yield is likely to go down this year. At least, there’s a really good chance it will. So how do they account for that? If they admit at a higher rate, they risk over enrollment if yield is the same or better. Otherwise, they have to go to the waitlist for more students if yield does go down.
What we don’t know is how many people they waitlisted, so even if we could anticipate that the number enrolled off the waitlist is higher than 50, we can’t know what the odds are for those on the list.
In any event, those numbers don’t predict anything for us waitlisters because the list isn’t ranked. There’s no way to know who will be picked. It’s just fun to think about. I still have hope and have offers from other schools I like. Davidson was near the top though. Good luck to everyone!
Accepted
Congrats on all the acceptances and good luck to the WLers.
@homerdog - I haven’t looked recently but I think Davidson’s yield is typically high 40s – around 45 to 48%. You have to back out the ED acceptances, of course, but my guess is no more than 15% RD acceptance this year.
Current Davidson parent here so anyone with questions, feel free to send me a PM!
My D21 is in!
