Davidson Regular Decisions - Class of 2021

@goblue8721
I applied for Computer Science and they just recently added that one as a major since I had went to visit Davidson and they made the prospective students say what majors we were applying for and I was the only one that said Computer Science so it is going to be interesting.

Also, did anybody apply for scholarships? If so, which scholarship(s)? I applied for the Bonners Program and Patricia Cornwell Creative Writing Scholarship.

I applied for NUN OF YO DAMN MUTHAFUCKIN BUSINESS BITCH!

Well I applied for IR/ Int Studies as it is an extension of a interdisplinarh minor rather than official major. I made it clear that’s what I wanted to study

Six days!!

It will be announced on April 22nd 9pm EDT

My daughter has received early notification of acceptance.

I’ve never done anything like this but if it will help someone I can post her stats?
She was notified early because she is in the running for a scholarship.

Good luck to everyone, it is a great school.

@sunshinemiracle

Are you going to the scholarship finalist weekend coming up?

Does anyone here receive the email from Davidson checking whether the applicant has been accepted under ED in another school? I am just wandering whether it is a generic thing or?

@exheni Yup, received the same thing. It is generic.

Would you mind sharing your stat? Cuz I also received the similar email from NYU and a friend of mine said she never received it. I am quite confused. Did your friends or people you know also have it? I think Davidson could be a target school for me since my stat is at the level of above 75% of its students but I am International and the competition this year has gone insane.

@exheni
Nobody but me in my school is applying to Davidson I think (not sure because I do not have to go there and I just transferred there this school year so I know some people but do not deal with them and not know a lot of them).

Second, my stats are: 4.4698 GPA, ACT: 23, and SAT: 1080/1600. I have taken 31 units in high school, and will have 35 units by the end of high school. Let’s see, I also have taken 13 advanced courses that are not honors (2APs that were both taken in freshmen year with high "A"s and 11 college courses since I do dual enrollment).

I think people focus too much on the stats because they said when I visited there that yes, they look at that, but they are looking for your rigor, the success in those, your essays and recommendations (especially those because of the peer one too which is unique), ec’s (mine: started a choral club, started a student advisory club, started a gaming club, started a dance club, did mentoring with middle schoolers since the school I went to for my freshmen through junior years was high school and middle school combined, and tutoring but the thing is once I did dual enrollment, I finished my high school classes early enough so I could stay at home for junior year and this year as well and I could not do the clubs anymore because 1)i was taking two to three colleges - that i was not even supposed to take that many but I made it work and 2) my magnet school close so I had to transfer to a public school that is awful but I do not have to go there but i have to deal with the staff with communication), and standarized test scores.

Also, my class rank is 6/163 and if you do the math, you will get 3%-4%, which puts me between the 96th and 97th percentiles.

I am also in North Carolina, which is Davidson’ s state location. I do not know how int’l works. Would you mind sharing your stats?

@Charleigh I have not heard anything yet about it so I do not know.

@sunshinemiracle I am not saying that extracurricular things don’t matter. I am also the starting center of school basketball team and being as the leader of several other clubs in schools. I am asking you this is because I received five denials yesterday and I don’t have a clue of what’s going on. I have a decent sat score and AP alevel scores. I am not asking you this as to know about your scores. I am just speculating that there is a correlation between one’s competitiveness and the reception of this email. (1520 on sat, three 5 one four on AP, two A on alevel and one B.) hope for the best for both of us.

@exheni All right, got you! For int’l, from what I heard, some schools it is a bit harder to get in. It also depends on what schools you applied to. I hope we both get in though! Those are some great things you are doing and with that, you should have not gotten denied at all. Have you heard back from NYU as far as acceptance yet?

@sunshinemiracle I have also did some college courses in Uchicago. I knew there are amazing. I don’t really know why I was rejected by schools like ucla and northwestern, but I have great expectations for Davidson as well. I haven’t heart back from NYU and others, I guess we shall wait.

@exheni Maybe because you were not the right fit for those schools, but I got a good feeling you probably would get into Davidson!

I am so nervous ahh

@sunshinemiracle Thanks. I wish good luck for both of us. Have you got any good news?

@goblue8721 Only three days left so yup, pretty nervous!

@exheni Ahh yes, I got in four colleges and deferred at one but I did not want to apply to that one but whatever. I had got accept to UNC chapel hill on a “full ride” meaning no loans - just work study and grants by federal and UNC so i might be a covenant scholar. I am waiting on Davidson and Wake Forest to match that as well, but really leaning towards Davidson besides UNC.

I applied to seven by the way.

@sunshinemiracle congrats on UNC! That’s an excellent option
