Prospective pre med student with major in neuroscience. Will apply to both. I’m just nervous about price because I will not get any financial aid, and there’s not many scholarships they give out. If anyone has any insight to the colleges’ preparation to medical school, please comment.
Info if you need it:
Class Rank: 4/144
UGPA: 3.94
WGPA: 105 (something. It’s really weird)
ACT: 33 (34 superscore)
All honors classes.
A few AP’s (school doesn’t offer many)
NHS, French Club, Hope and Change club
Varsity tennis 2 years
Some volunteering
both will be good at pre-med prep, although neither is really known for that primarily. neither is likely to be super generous with aid. Go to the one you like better, or which is cheaper, if you have the choice.
Have you run each school’s Net Price Calculator (NPC) to get an estimate of how much your family will be expected to pay? The NPCs may not be accurate if your parents are divorced, have their own business and/or have significant real estate assets.
As for med school preparation, look at both school’s pre-med advising department, programs and committee letter requirements.
@joecollege44 Thank you for your response!
@Mwfan1921 Unfortunately, my parents run their own business. Also, I will definitely look at their advising departments. Thank you
I prefer Davidson. However, if finances are an issue with your family, I’d look for less expensive options. You are looking at $300k for undergrad alone. Then there is medical school. Look at state schools or places where you might get merit money.
@cptofthehouse I was looking into UT Dallas because I got a 13K/year AES scholarships. The only thing I would be afraid of is losing the personalization since UT Dallas has a higher acceptance rate with a larger class size.
