So I know there have been some more general threads about choosing between the two, but I was wondering if you guys had any good points for me to make in my argument for Davidson versus my mom's choice of University of South Carolina Honor's College.

Her sole stated issued with Davidson is money. It's looking like it might cost me about 14k a year while USC would pay me 4k a year.

Davidson is a wonderful school but if it is going to cause your family real financial hardship no one can legitimately advise you to go there over a state school. However, if your family can afford the 14K, going to Davidson gives you the opportunity to be in a really special environment, meet people from different places and backgrounds, and interact in various ways with dedicated professors. It's an education in the broadest sense as well as the classroom sense.

I forgot to suggest in my earlier post that you should read the state honors college thread on the parents forum for a lot of pros and cons.
