I've been accepted at Tufts and Davidson and I just can't seem to figure out which one is right for me. Though they are very different, at the moment, I am equally inclined to both. I would love some help.

-international student from India
-liberal arts program (psychology)
-interested in community service, dance, drama
-comfortable with different types of people
-semi-outgoing, optimistic, passionate

What I want(apart from good academics) is brand recognition -both in the US and internationally, an international community, comfortable weather conditions, and a semi-urban lifestyle.

You’ve got only a day or two to make up your mind. Good luck making your choices, between two significantly different schools. Suburban Boston vs. small town Davidson with access to a nice city. Northeast vs. South. Medium size university vs. small liberal arts college. Terrible winter weather vs. mild winter. Since both schools are close to major airports, transportation should not be a problem. Boston is definitely more multi-cultural. There is probably a restaurant there specializing in dishes from your home town. As far as brand recognition, I don’t know how well either of these names travel overseas. For location, I would give a nod to Tufts, but in terms of academic environment, the choice would have to be Davidson.

i will be attending Davidson next year and thought i would share something that i learned during my last visit to the campus.

i asked my host which department is the strongest or most liked in the school, and she responded by saying that many people have taken a psychology class to fulfill requirements but have come back loving the course and professors so much, they declare a psych major!

if you want any other info, just PM me and i’d be glad to help you out.

Another Davidson Class of 2015-er here…(hi FunkyFairy11…can’t wait to meet you!! )

Anyway, both are excellent, fantastic schools and you are in an awesome position if you choose either. Now, I am biased and would love for you to choose Davidson. You only have 2 days to choose. For your characteristics (name brand, big international community, semi-urban lifestyle) Tufts is probably better, minus the weather. Boston is freezing and gets VERY cold. Davidson’s winter is more manageable, although since the student body is smaller, it has less recognition (yet it is very prestigious and well known in the Southern US) and a smaller international community. BUT I think our education is one that cannot be beat. We have an amazing, tight-knit, honor and trust-bound student body that wants to LEARN. The psych major is one of the strongest at Davidson. Also, most of the student body at Davidson does a ton of community service-it is a HUGE service community.

And I will be dancing at Davidson next year! We have Dance Ensemble for everyone, experienced or not, Dance Team that performs at basketball/football games, and Gamut Dance Company that specializes in student choreography and artsy-er, more professional-looking modern, contemporary pieces. I haven’t decided if I want to do Gamut or Dance Team in addition to DE…anyway…

Good luck with your decision! Both are great places to go to school and you should be very proud of yourself.
