Davidson vs. Washington & Lee

Hi!

I was accepted to both of the aforementioned schools with a significant amount of merit aid from each. This essentially means that I have a really tough choice to make, since financially, I could go to either. I would really appreciate a compare/contrast between the two schools to help me with my decision.

Thanks to all responders!

I intend to go into Law but would also like to continue/maybe minor in my study of Japanese. I dance, play sports, am very active with social justice, and also Debate. Hope that helps and thanks!

You’d probably like W&L’s Mock Con, which is held once every four years (next one in fall 2015, but planning is already well underway) and Mock Trial. Tons of social justice opportunities, from Pre-O trips focusing on service to the Shepherd Program in Poverty and Human Capability Studies, which is a very popular minor.

You could continue your study of Japanese (there’s a spring term abroad trip to Japan), but you cannot minor in it (there is a major in East Asian Studies). Dance group has fabulous new studio in downtown Lex and is hugely popular (the performances sell out). Intramural sports aren’t a big deal with a few exceptions, but you do have to take 4 semesters of PE and can choose various sports to fulfill that requirement.

Could you compare these same areas of interest at Davidson?

Sorry – while we looked at Davidson for our D & think it’s a great school, I really can’t speak knowledgeably about their programs in your areas of interest. Assume you’ve posted on the Davidson board & am sure someone there can give you some insights. Have you been able to visit the campuses?
