Davidson's Think Institute or CTY?

I wonder if anyone has any experience with Davidison's Institute's Think Summer program, who could compare it to CTY. I see that it is smaller, held in Reno, costs slightly less, covers two topics instead of one (like CTY). They are both 3 weeks long and seem to be targeting smart kids...

THINK Institute seems to be more socioeconomically diverse and to have a more involved staff. The program offerings are enough different that you may want to choose a program based on what course is available. My son went to CTY Lancaster a few years ago, and knows lots of THINK alumni.

There's a lot to be said for going to the program that is farther from home--you learn something just by getting into a new environment in a new region.

I've done 3 CTY courses (two summer, one distance) and would be happy to answer any questions about it. I don't check CC very often, but feel free to send me an email at catherine.m.89@live.com.

i assume davidson think institute summer program and the davidson fellowship are different programs?

Yes, they are distinct programs operated by the same organization. And both are distinct from the Davidson Young Scholars program.

Hi Anne:
I am also looking for any info about THINK. The program is so much smaller compared to CTY, that there just isn't that much alumni.
For whatever the reason, I have noticed that last year THINK had a much higher cut off score in math for one course than it does this year.
The same happened for RMSI - they required lower scores last year than they did two years ago.
Is it because in order to stay competitive they have to lower the standards?
Please keep me posted if you find out something :-)
