If you think UCD is crazy, wait until Cal releases its decisions…

LOL algebraic <3 can’t wait for the frenzy

^why do you say that Algebraic? What’s the lowest GPA you’ve seen from Berkeley acceptance? :D

I had a 2120 SAT (Cr 610 Math 770 Wr 740 Essay 12), well I took it multiple times. UC GPA: 4.1, Weighted GPA: 4.4, All AP classes Junior and Senior years. 20 AP tests. Decent EC’s. I got rejected by both Davis and San Diego.
I got UIUC and Georgia Tech (Engineering), which are more competitive.

haha XD im praying my supplemental got me in XD

Majors are not factored into the admissions process for the mid-tier UC’s

They’re not factored in ANY of the UCs for liberal arts/sciences majors (generally the College of Letters & Sciences at most schools). Engineering and other schools may have different requirements.

Cal, along with UCLA, probably gets the most applications of the UCs. Also a large part of their applicants are probably crazy qualified (think 2200+ 4.0 UC GPA overachievers). Since all the UCs are rejecting a lot of these qualified applicants, the aftermath from Cal decisions will be a dramambomb of epic proportions.

Or we’ll all get in with scholarships and a coupon for free ice cream!

wow how come the ones w/ super high stats didn’t get it?
may be those ppl probably got into Berkeley or some other super good private schools ie: Harvard XDD??
I got into Davis, Irvine, SC,R,M waitlisted at Santa Barbara Rejected: UCLA, UCSD but my stats r pretty low =_=
GPA 3.9 SAT 1750 0.o
SAT II 800, 640
pretty good essays
not much ECs but 100+ hrs (and i just turned them in last week)

Son got into UCD, UCSC, but not UCSB or UCSD. He got into all the CSUs he applied to. His stats aren’t amazing: 3.8 unweighted GPA, 1920 SAT, 740 Math 2, and 600 History. He didn’t have many ECs, but he did a community service project in Fiji and New Zealand and wrote a killer essay about why he wanted to be an epidemiologist. UCD offers a two year fellowship in what he wants to study. I think that’s why he got in. Maybe it really is more than just numbers.

@Algebraic:

I second the notion for ice cream coupons.

It is definitely weird this year. My friend got in with a 3.1 UC gpa, 1700 SAT, and minimal E.C’s

haha when i found out that i got waitlisted at davis, i started laughing.

stats:
UC GPA: 3.86
W GPA: 4.14
SAT:1790
ACT: 27
SAT IIs: 690, 680
lots of ecs, sports, and what not.
essays were great

its all cool. i got into UCSD, UCI, UCSB, Cal Poly SLO, and SDSU. rejected from LA (no surprise) and most likely going to get rejected from Cal. I’m probably going to Irvine :D

Universities pride themselves on the percentage of students admitted who actually choose that college. I suspect that some universities reject students who are likely to attend a more prestigious university to protect their accept rate stats.

^ haha socalsoccer, I started laughing also

stats:
UC GPA: 4.2
W GPA: 4.4
SAT: 2250
SAT IIs: 800 750
lots of ecs, Vars Basketball, Vars Soccer, Vars Tennis captain, etc etc
essays were great

Got into UCSD, UCLA, UCSB, UCI, USC. Rejected from UCD. What a joke haha

LOL high five stpatricks and socalsoccerdude :)

3.042 GPA
1860 SAT 1, 670 and 490 SAT 2
Killer essays
to-die-for ECs
I got in.

hello, new to this site. son got accepted to ucsc for bio major. got waitlisted at ucd, need to send another essay to ucd, then they decide. not sure what to do, he really wants to be at ucd but does not want to lose his spot in ucsc

Hi Pinakbet!

It is suggested by the UC system themselves, that you submit an SIR to them by May 1st. Then, you will know by June if you got off the waitlist. You will lose your SIR if you get accepted from the waitlist, but the joy is priceless :3 If you don’t submit an SIR, and don’t get off the waitlist, you will not have a chance of being admitted to any UC.

did you by any chance read my post on the Decisions Posted thread…that I got into NYU? =D
