Which school has the better program?

Probably UCSB or UCSD...none of the 3 are particularly renowned in that field though.

that was my big dilemma for a while. Actually it was between San Diego, Davis and Santa Barbara.

If you are into media then maybe San Diego, most of their classes deal with media
"Communication at UCSD is a field of study that emphasizes the role of different technologies of communication, from language to writing to television to computers, in mediating human experience" It is not technical though. it is more like.. the role of media in the U.S and cultures
I mean UCSD is a great school, but the major just sounds a bit lame. I mean, if you like media you might as well try to go to Berkeley and LA, where it is more technica. You can check out the comm department site for SD yourself

UCSD Communication | Introduction | Undergraduate program

If you want more hands on media stuff then Berkeley and LA are your best options

Davis and Santa Barbara have somewhat similar program, it's more based on human communication
Davis is a nice campus, about 10 minutes from Sacramento, but it is still kind of in the middle of nowhere. I tried to do research on their comm major and they did not offer a lot of information: i read the courses and they sounded ok.. but the website fails on making it look like an interesting major, i would say davis is better for other majors but communciations is not a strong one

here are the courses at davis if u wanna check them out : UC Davis: Communication : Undergradate Courses

Then for me it came down to Santa Barbara for the following reasons: Just by checking out the website they seem to have a lot to offer for communications students. The courses are more interesting and what i was looking for (more persuasive com, political com and stuff like that).

On their website it even breaks down the courses recomending you the ones you should take for the career you would like..

So for me it came down to Santa Barbara, the program seems more interesting, i like the town, and i am not a big party person and SB is a big party town but i can deal with that.

It all comes down to where will you feel the happiest?
What career do you want?
What kind of campus do you like?.. city=SD college town=Davis and SB

I did A LOT of research on the comm majors at those three schools, feel more than free to email me any questions you have or IM me , my sn is goosetavo17

one more thing.. forget reputation.. a UC will always look good no matter where (except for merced and riverside probably)

I got into berkeley.. and i'm still happy with my decision to attend SB

Just wondering why you chose SB over Berkeley? What is it the campus?

Hey. That kinda helps. Forget reputation.

I kinda want to go to UCSB, but it seems like job opportunities will be better if I went to berkeley.

But UCSB, how is the lifestyle out there?

jk_91= Im not really interested in media that is why i chose Santa Barbara, I never really visited Berkeley. It is a great school and hopefully i will get in for my masters

user_anton:if you like media communications and you are only going to get a Bachelors then Berkeley is deff ur best option. I like the human communication better, persuasion, intercultural interpersonal etc.. that is why i chose Santa Barbara, and i am planning on getting the best grades i can to attend a good law school.

i chose SB over Berkeley too.. my goal is to become an actuary... i'm attending summer session starting tomorrow, kinda excited and nervous
