I got into both for CS. I was wondering which program would be stronger and why? thanks!
Compare the CS curiculum for each school and see if there any major differences. If not, pick the school you like best. For CS, there should be good recruiting opportunities at both schools.
What’s going to make or break you in getting a good job is the work you put in, whether you take part in student activities related to software, and get internships. Any difference between the schools, assuming it even exists for this pair that are similar, accounts for maybe 1% of the difference in outcomes.
Which college are you going to pursue at UCSB? CCS or LAS? Both UCs are excellent options.
@ItsJustSchool College of Engineering
@barca101, in general UCSB is rated slightly below UCD. In EE or Materials Science, I would recommend UCSB. In Physics, Bio, or (maybe) Math, I would recommend CCS (UCSB). Otherwise, conventional wisdom favors Davis. If you want to go into research/pursue a Ph.D. and you are a very motivated and independent student with lots of discipline, I would investigate CS at CCS. I really do not have the experience to advise you. Both UCs are excellent options.
For recruiting, Davis is culturally about biotech, biomedical, agriculture, livestock. UCSB is about Clean Energy, marine biology, lasers/LEDs, and new materials.
I don’t think there is a wrong answer.
