Day for admitted students vs day for admitted honors students

Think there's much difference between the two?

Thanks!

They’ll really want the honors students, so they’ll probably emphasize all the extras that program participants get. Maybe they’ll have better food at the events?

Not sure what Admitted day does but Honors day is run by the UHC not by Pitt/OAFA IIRC. I know I helped out and it started out with a breakfast session of just the students, parents, and UHC staff talking about Pitt, the UHC mission, etc. After that they got to go into a big room with lots of tables set up representing all the different things the UHC does (Brackenridge Fellows, UHC Housing, various clubs and publications, etc.) which are staffed by the students in those clubs. I’ve helped run the Three Rivers Review table in the past (literary publication) as well as the UHC Housing one.

I think they also try to get the students to sit in on some UHC classes to get a feel for what they are like.

We ended up with an emergency on the honors day DD had scheduled. She then scheduled appointments with two departments and met with professors. One department set up a tour with a current student and a prof specializing in something she was interested in. She had a great day and had a good look at Pitt on her own.

Just posted this in the other thread…
We went to both a couple of years ago. There is some duplication from one day to the to other, but I was glad we went to both as it gave us a chance to just walk around the campus. Be sure to take an upper campus tour if you can, and the City tour was nice if you are familiar with Pittsburgh.

I tried to sign up for both online but it wasn’t allowed. We are going to admitted students day this Saturday. I think we will then decide whether to come back for honors day. DS is very serious about Pitt. It’s in his top 3. Some days it’s his #1

My D is a junior now at Pitt. We did not go to Admitted Students day but it was Honors Day that cinched it for her.

I didn’t go to the Honors Day, but I would recommend it. There’s likely to be pretty good food.

I recommend going to both as well. There isn’t enough time in one day to take both campus tours (upper and lower campus) and attend the information sessions your son/daughter may be interested in. Also recommend the bus tour for those of you not familiar with Pittsburgh. It provides a great overview of the places off campus your future student can go for events, shopping, and restaurants.

We went to both last year and even though we had visited Pittsburgh twice before it was nice to be able to leisurely visit the campus (don’t forget to tour the nationality rooms in the Cathedral) and the city. Take advantage of the bus tours and absolutely visit upper campus, especially if your child is interested in honors housing. My son is living in Sutherland West and he absolutely loves it. There really is a benefit to honors housing (like minded students). My son has already picked honors housing in Brackenridge next year.

If your child is seriously considering Pitt you want to spend as much time on campus and in the city as possible…and stop in at the Union Grill for the best burger you’ll ever eat. :)
