Daylight savings time

Is Alabama on daylight savings time? I had e-mailed to find out what time move-in sign-up begins, and the reply was 8 am central standard time. We’re on daylight savings time here so that seemed odd, and made me think that maybe the entire state stays on standard time. Anyone know?

Yes…Alabama is on Daylight Savings Time. It’s 6:20 now and very light outside. :)

Hmm, then I’m going to guess that e-mail was in error. It makes no sense to have something scheduled on standard time when we’re currently in daylight savings time.

It probably should have said, Central Time Zone.

Alabama is mostly in the Central Time Zone*. Many people get confused as to CDT and CST and will use them interchangeably.

*The area in and around Phenix City, Alabama is in the Eastern Time Zone as Columbus, Georgia is nearby and is a larger city.

Yup…I forget about that little area.

I never knew that. You learn something new every day!
