Days on Campus

So after having heard several speculations, can Columbia offer you plane tickets to go to the days on campus or not ?
Some people say you just need to phone and say you want one, some say they don't do that.

I received an email offering to pay for my flight.

Only for RD admits, they will.

YEAAAAAH !! I’m RD !!! :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks guy, I’m phoning !

NO WONDER!!!

Gosh I should’ve applied RD lol.

I was wondering why CU didn’t pay for me to fly down from Alaska for Days on Campus last year :(

So it’s official, they pay only for domestic RD students.

I will be living at a friend’s house overnight.

His address is:

62 St

Brooklyn, NY 11204

What would be the fastest/most direct route by subway? Does this path look okay or is there is better way?
Start at 62 St on line D
Transfer at 59 St to line 1
Stop at 116 St

Approximately how long should it take me to get to Columbia? Will 30 minutes be enough?

You can check Google Maps. They have the NYC Transit on there. It’ll give you approx. times.

Best website for walking/subway directions is www.hopstop.com

Any other advice for navigating/getting through NYC?

I just called the Undergrad and FA Offices and they told me they don’t ordinarily pay for the Days on Campus visit :[

How did you even get through on the phone? I’ve been calling the FA office all day.

Call the admission office not the FA

They pay for RD admits, not ED. You should’ve gotten an email.

Update, they do pay for international but you need to wait for the e-mail.
Are you parents going to the Days on Campus with you ?

yeah, my dad is coming with me. what’s everyone bringing with them?

Probably sleeping bag, camera and a book for the trip, beside the regular stuff you need when you are away from home.

Did you get the email? If so when and what does it say? Do they offer to pay for everyone or only a select group of internationals?

No idea honestly. I did get the e-mail.

I don’t think I’m going, but did they pass out/give you any information that I should know about?

…was also wondering if they handed out t-shirts if they do, then there’s not point for me to buy one.
