I know that Georgetown is in DC, but I've heard that the other parts of the city are a bit inaccessible on the weekends and that you have to catch a bus to the nearest Metro stops. Is this true?

I'm from Houston and considering applying to SFS. I'll be important to me that the school I attend is within reasonable distance of subway/metro.

Thanks a bunch!

From what I hear, Georgetown students use the Metro to get themselves pretty much everywhere around town. Don't let transportation be a detriment to stop you from applying, by the way.

Oh, of course it wouldn't. Georgetown so far is still my #1 pick. It was just something I'd been curious about. Thanks for your reply.

You can walk there :p lol
it's just like, three miles or something.

the shuttle goes to the Rosslyn metro stations and comes like every 15 minutes or something and it goes to different stops in the georgetown neighborhood

and i walked from the Rosslyn metro station in the cold to gtown and it wasn't a problem, didnt feel like 3 miles at least, so i'd say that metro makes the city EXTREMELY accessible

maybe its just cuz ive been so used to the ****ty transportation in the bay area and SF (BART is a poor excuse for a subway/train system), but the Metro seemed really nice and easy to use to get around

Any public transportation AT ALL is better than what we have in Southern California. I'll be soooo glad to finally chuck my car, driving and gas money is a real pain the rear sometimes.

yes, but what better way to learn anger management than to try to rush to an important college interview in rush hour traffic ... it happened to me

There are three metro stops near Georgetown, the closest of which is a half of a mile away. The school provides free shuttles to and from the 3 nearest stops.

Half a mile doesn't seem so bad. I already walk that distance to class everyday.

The metro stations are actually kinda far from the campus

Great area there though...i was just there tonight

so lively and so much **** to do

If you guys do go here...I highyl recommend the hookah bar on prospect street

Washington, D.C. has one of the best public transportation available I heard. All you need is the metro. Plus, Georgetown has its own shuttle system (GUTS).
