To anyone interning in Washington DC: Where are you going to be living this summer?

To anyone's whose lived in DC in the past: What are the best ways to find places? Craigslist? Also, where are the best places to live (area wise)? What are some things you would recommend as far as looking for in a summer place (proximity to x, something else that might be necessary that might not immediately come to mind).

Also, what's a decent price per person for a month? I'm hoping to keep it under $1500/month; is this realistic?

Also, I know a lot of student interns in NYC often have programs where they meet up with each other and meet people from different schools at clubs and events and what not; is there some type of DC intern network like this as well?

Thanks for all your help!

I am interning for U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe, and I am living at American University for two and a half months and in London Circle for one month.

Considering the 14.5% room tax that DC levies on all rooms interns would be staying in, it is hard to keep it under $1500 a month, but you can make it very close. At American University (which seems to have the best program for summer interns look for housing), I am paying $1575 a month for apartment-style housing.

Good luck…housing gets eaten up pretty quickly so I would certainly reserve something sooner rather than later.

Looking to see if anyone else has some information they could sure.

Facebook Marketplace also has many listings for sublets during the summer. You should be able to find something through there. You can easily find a room in your price range. Usually the rooms belong to college students that are not in the city for the summer, so they are happy to get whatever they can towards their rent.
