Alright so I am from miami, aka. today it was 70 degrees and I started shivering....(laugh it up you northerners, it's pathetic I know). I have also never seen snow, and the coldest weather I've experienced was NY in April when I was very young, hence I have no recollection.

So I am looking for some insight on what it will be like living and going to school somewhere where I can anticipate actual "changes of season" lol. Is it terribly dreadful in DC? Does it stay freezing all day? How many layers of clothing? Is snow really annoying or is it fun like the movies try to illustrate? etc etc.

spring (cherry blossoms!) and fall are nice.

winters will be cold for you, but really aren't that bad. the entire city shuts down at the sign of any snowflakes -- it's like they think it's anthrax or something. all in all, there really isn't that much snow. you'll need layers but it's not unbearable.

d.c. summers trail into the start of the school year, and they are notoriously humid on top of the heat, which probably really isn't that bad, but we complain a lot. afternoon/evening is often interrupted by a brief thundershower, which cools everything off for .05 seconds before making it difficult to breathe through the humidity.

Haha, thanks! I feel reassured now that I won't get depressed at the first flurry of snow and leave to go to college in the caribbean or something. And yeah it is extremely humid in FL all the time...it does make for some pretty gross weather sometimes.

yeah..i live in NH and we had ski practice yesterday when it was 6 degrees F...i was actually worried about the opposite, that I would miss the snow...but right about now I'm ready for some warmer weather.......

I live and go to high school just outside of DC. yeah, spring and fall are nice, weather is somewhat unpredictable and crazy. In the winter and summer our days seem to be made up solely of the highs and lows and never in between. Right now, I'm pretty angry at the DC weather because they've been predicting sleet and snow over the weekend and nothing's happened--and getting off from school is always nice!

Snow IS fun if you've never seen it! You'll probably get some Georgetown students who will be amazed that you've never seen snow and play with you in the snow, hehehe. And the last time the city didn't shut down because of a minor snowstorm, almost everyone got to school late with traumatizing almost-accident experiences. (so our snow machines are not too good)

I live in Alaska where it is eternally cold (it seems that way, anyway) (even the summers have an average of 50 degrees F). I love snow, but alas, this year, we don't really have snow. We can't ski, or snowboard, as it is just icy. Cold, slippery, freezing Ice. This is one of the multitude of reasons why I'm getting out of this state. Hopefully to D.C., or California. I love the sun!
