De Anza CC

I know there are a lot of people from the Bay Area from around here and I heard De Anza is pretty competitive for a CC, just because it's located around really prestigious high schools and a rich area, so people who don't make it to UCB or UCLA just go to De Anza directly. How "hard" is a tough CC? I don't want to screw up!

i suppose i fall into the rich/prestigious school denied cal category...

honestly, i thought highschool was harder but that's just my opinion. I know some people struggle there b/c for a lot of people english is their second language. if you can speak/write english well you'll do fine.

And i didnt find it competitive at all...people pretty much mind their own business

I go to foothill which is the same thing as De Anza , I would say its not as "hard" as you may think, if your really there with a plan to transfer and not waste your time it should be pretty easy, just make sure you stay focused and youll do fine...

m3pwr- only 65 more posts til 200.

you have 27 minutes left til the end of today.

damn im trying but i just dont want to post random crap...

Make it rain-your screen name keeps reminding me of FAT Joe...

64 more posts to go.. hahahahahah. if only poppin were here.

^ why do i think you know me....

BECAUSE YOU DO. creep.

Velasco------

UM CHYEAH.

Anyway, makin it rain, you should def try going to Foothill/De Anza mostly because the profs. are good. Personally I like foothill better because de anza is too crowded for my taste. to do well look at rate my professors before you sign up for classes. it helps when they're good teachers not necessarily EASY teachers because then you just wont learn anything. and everyone wants to learn...

you should be fine if you keep your eye on the goal and set up a good educational plan for the next two years. assist.org helps tremendously and be sure to reference IGETC!

^ I second that O and never and i mean never rely on foothill de anza counselors ..There so bad

Ah, thanks (: I was considering either De Anza or SJSU because De Anza is like, a 30 minute drive.

Haha my account reminds me of that song too, m3pwr ;p

Ohh and also, what kind of GPA's are you getting at CC comapred to in HS? I was pretty lazy in HS :/ but I know that I have the potential to be better.

high school gpa: 3.2 (?)
De Anza gpa: 3.98

Well right now im at a overall 3.7 but my 1st quarter i got a 3.3 just cuz i was kinda getting adjusted...

I go to De Anza. I've never been anywhere else so I can't make the best judgments of comparative difficulty. If you're not a science major of some kind, I believe that most people can get 4.0's with enough effort. The math/science classes can be very tough, especially with teachers like Newton (physics), Mosh (math), and Peterson(math).

Definitely use ratemyprofessors.com very often, as the teachers dictate whether a class is hard or not. There's some classes that are just always hard, like the entire Phys 4 series, though.

shut up! is there really a Newton that teaches physics? thats uncanny...

the science thing is true though (not being a science/math major i forgot)

its hard to get into some classes b/c there are a lot of people trying to get in

Yes there is, David Newton. He's an amazing professor who kept the entire class laughing (he has a sarcastic self-deprecating kind of humor) while learning about F=ma

It's also true about the popular teachers (you're not the only one using ratemyprofessors) getting full right away, so find out how you can get priority registration (usually EOP, honors students, vets, extenuating-circumstances-students, etc)

TipTopT, ah, are you in the Honors Program? And did you go to like...Monta Vista/Leland/Mission San Jose or anything? Haha.

There's orientation tomorrow, so I'll probably be attending. Priority registration ftw!
