yeah this is my 2nd quarter at de anza and after this quarter i'll have 51 completed units with around a 3.84 gpa (2 b's from a while ago). i plan on applying this fall and was wondering whether or not i should take math next quarter (spring) but math is SUPER HARD for me and i have no idea whether or not i should take it. what do you guys think? go for it or wait a little bit longer...like the UC's said, they don't look at your winter/spring grades correct?

I think it depends on your major, if you have math pre reqs you should try to fulfill them before you apply. Even if you don't have a math pre req I still suggest you take math. Even though it's tough at de anza, it's not impossible and you should show some competency in math, utilize ratemyprofessor.com and you'll be alright.

poli sci major..only class i got to take for math is math 10.
aaaackkkkk

I guessing Math 10 = Statistics. If so, you don't need to worry because Stats is a cake walk.

hah maybe for you...my math seriously stinks.

If you know basic algebra then Stats will be a breeze. Try to take the easiest Stats teacher if you are worried that you might barely pass. The teacher I have now gives us all of the formulas on the exams. Ha! I wonder if the final exam will be the same.

yeeah i know we'll see. i'm just afraid to get anymore B's

nikkei what are your stats? i know you're a poli sci major too.

Not as good as yours. :)

Major: Pre-Political Science
Completed Units: 58.5 (70.5 by end of Spring)
Cumulative GPA: 3.7
Major GPA: 4.0 (so far...)

They want to see you complete the math requirement as early as possible (preferably in your first 30 units).

nikkei you are practically the exact same as me haha. what's ur top choice?

UCLA. How about you?

Mr. "I'm-the-best-basketball-player-in-the-class," I think you should just take it and get it over with while your math brain is still somewhat active. I had to take calculus after a two year hiatus, and that was really difficult.

Are you talking about IGETC or your major?

"Are you talking about IGETC or your major?"

Neither. It's a general UC requirement.
