<p>Hey just wondering, what's the maximum number of units you can take during the summer quarter at De Anza College?</p>

<p>yeah, it is twelve. i petitioned last year and took 14 at de anza, and 6 at foothill</p>

<p>Damn, I’m currently taking 30 units and I need to take at least 20 over the summer. Can we petition to increase units over the summer as well?</p>

<p>Damn are you trying to take a quarter off or something? That’s alot of units. I’m sure you can petition to increase units over the summer though it probably needs to get approved by the academic council since ur 8 units over the cap. Given your track record and gpa, I don’t think it should be a problem.</p>

I just want to take 13 units.</p>

<p>@knight I’m taking a lot of classes because I recently discovered I want to apply to many private universities and they have some supplemental requirements. Also taking a lot of classes will show the rigors of my schedule compared to someone who takes 3 classes per quarter.</p>

I couldn’t exactly find the form for excess units, but it might be the general petition form. Your best bet would be to go and have drop in session with a counselor.

I see, thats pretty insane considering u also have a 20 hr/week internship at nasa… which privates are you looking at?</p>

you work at nasa? i do too. and i took 36.5 units last quarter, almost died but still got 4 A+'s, 4 A’s and an A-. This quarter is an “easy” quarter for me: 26 units.</p>

<p>You have to get the counselor’s permission to go over though. </p>

<p>Wow, I applied for the NASA internship too (I’m from DA) but didn’t get it :frowning: the hours are crazy.</p>
