now my EFC is 0,but im going to a UC i got a cal grant and a pell grant and workstudy, any other ideas on saving or making money?

what more do you want?

The best way to "save" money is going to a community college for two years & then transferring to the college you want your diploma from for the last two years of college. You still get the prestigous diploma & two years of the college experience but you save a LOT of money. Otherwise, work hard & save money AND find a rich relative or friend who wants to help pay for your education--good luck!

As simba said, what else do you want? Cal grant is up to $6000 (I choosed A just because my parents might make more money their 2nd year and school will take Cal Grant B away from me), Pell Grant is 3600, school gran is more like 9000 (that's what I received) loan for 4000 and total of $22,600. What else do you need?
P.S.: working during college is a good thing

Total cost estimates at the UC's include things like 'transportation' and miscellaneous expenses' and of course, room and board. Many meet close to 100% of need-- so with an EFC of 0, you should be in pretty good shape.

well my high school counsler told me the school wont give anymore money other that my pell grant and calgrrant because UCs are so in broke... but thanks for the info

Your counselor is mistaken -- UCSB has offered my daughter $9000 of grant + scholarship money. We don't qualify for a Cal Grant because my assets are higher than they allow, so all that is coming from University funds. The financial aid award does not meet our full need, it is about $5000 short, but given the overall costs, I'm not complaining.

Same as calmom, I got $9000 grant from UC Davis and my CalGrant A is about $5000-6000.

Thanks for that info Irbis -- I have a feeling that the gap from UCSB is specifically correlated to that Cal Grant we are not eligible for -- which makes some sense to me in terms of the overall fairness.
