I am only going to apply to Uchicago and Brown for RD, and apparently the deadlines are both on Jan 2. So does that mean I can still turn stuff in on like 11:00 PM on Jan 1st? Or do I have to have everything completed on the 31st of December. Kind of dug myself a big hole, wasn't planning on applying to any more schools.. uhh so a day extra would be great. Thanks.

If the deadline is Jan 2, then you can submit it at the latest on Jan 2, 11:59pm. You can still work on it even on Dec 31st and Jan 1st. But I wouldn’t wait until Jan 2, because there may be technical things that might go wrong.

agree with ^^ get it all done the day before just in case

And I don’t know where you’re located but remember that if you do wait until the 2nd, the Common App has an eastern time stamp.

^^^ Yes, do be aware of your time zone if you decide to wait until January 2 to submit!!!

DS was applying to a school with a Jan 1 deadline and received an emailed reminder today that that meant by midnight TONIGHT. Make sure you double check with exactly what your school/s require.

What? For most school’s deadline that I’ve seen. It’s the night of the day they say. Ex. November 30 deadline will be November 30th 11:59.

THAT’s what WE thought! Double check to not get caught off guard.

It turns out the notification we received yesterday, Dec 31, to get apps in by midnight yesterday, not Jan 1 as we thought, was incorrect. The admissions dean posted an apology just before midnight. Oh, well. Admissions folks are human, too!

Wait, sorry. I was planning on submitting everything today, jan 1st, but went out last night for New Years, ughh couldn’t control myself and I am kind of behind schedule.
So if the deadline says Jan 2nd, that means I can still turn it in like 10:00 PM EST on tuesday january second? Or do I have to send it today, Monday, like 10:59 PM EST Jan 1st?

The former. You have until 11:59 Jan 2nd to turn everything in-- so a little over 24 hours from right now.
