Did anyone else see this on the Gtown site? It says that online applications can be sent in through Jan. 12th.

I saw it.
I was still puzzled after reading it though...
It's probably because they have a problem with the Personal Data form and the confirmation emails.

What are their problems with the Personal Data form and the confirmation emails?

I had sent in my personal form a few days ago and I have yet to receive an email. You need the Id number in the email in order to submit part two of the app.

They extended last year, as well. perhaps a way to increase applications?

haha of course this is the one application i finish early...

people fail to realize the fact that apps are not free (ignoring the marginal waver form). We are in a recession (if not depression) and costs are going up. They are raising funds.

so...deadline=Jan 12th 11:59pm right?....b/c i wont have access to a computer this weekend and had planned to finish the app tonight...but after seeing the email/extended deadline, i can wait until sun night and mon night right instead of rushing tonight....correct?

good question.
anyone?

I got an email from the office that said the deadline was "through" Monday the 12th, so I'm assuming that means the deadline is 11:59 on Monday night.

I believe the deadline was extended because the date falls on a Saturday. It is more of a convenience for those who may not have access to a computer at home. I seriously doubt that there are a ton of kids who with two more days at their disposal would say, Hey I think I'll take the weekend and apply to Georgetown. While I think that the application process is a good way to raise funds, it is still an expensive proposition to go through all those applications, make sure they are complete, let alone review them. It's probably not the best idea to be so cynical so early in life.

Can someone please point out where exactly it says on the Georgetown site it says it is extended?

Please and Thank You

from georgetown.edu, click "prospective students", then click "Office of Undergraduate Admissions". On the right hand side under the "Announcements" section in bright red letters is where it says it.

Yay thanks!

the marginal cost of having counselors spend an extra hour (tops) on the applications and the interns sort through the apps to make sure they are complete (no expense incurred) is less than the application fees from an extra 20 or so applicants.

Wait, so, has anyone actually talked to an admissions officer and confirmed that the deadline has been extended?
I'm just a little confused because it still says "postmarked" by today, the 10th.

If mailing, it has to be sent today.

so, does that mean that if you're not mailing it and submitting it online that the deadline is definitely extended until the 12th?

yes it does :)

As the initial part of my post points out, it is probably more in consideration to those urm's or others who may not have a computer at home. That the application has to be completed in it's entirety online in one sitting is not easily done if you don't have access to a computer at home.
