If you were like me and hadn't finished yet, you will be glad to know that they've extended the deadline until Jan 4th (midnight CA time).

what a lifesaver since I am polishing up one more essay due tonight haha

THANK GOD
wow, what a relief, thank you so much for posting this, because i probably wouldn't have gotten around to checking my email tonight.

The email is slightly confusing though. It seems really contradicting.

"Today is Claremont McKenna College's Regular Decision Deadline. Please be sure that you have submitted both the Common Application and the CMC Supplement"

"All Regular Decision applications submitted by midnight on January 4 (Claremont, CA time) will be considered during the Regular Decision round. "

Do they mean the whole application? Or just the common application part.

... I haven't gotten this email, and I got all my stuff in on 12/29. Is that bad or just the database being slow?

You didn't get the email because it was only sent to those who didn't finish yet.

"Don't worry about having the application submitted by midnight. You can work past midnight and make sure that everything is exactly the way you want it. All Regular Decision applications submitted by midnight on January 4 (Claremont, CA time) will be considered during the Regular Decision round. We aren't suggesting that you wait until 11:55 p.m. on January 4 to submit your application, but hope that, if you are working late tonight, you will have the latitude to work past midnight (in whatever time zone you live) without losing sleep worrying that you may have submitted it too late."

It seemed a bit contradictory to me too. But, I assume by application they are referring to the application as a whole, including the supplement, since a distinction is never made between separate deadlines for the general application and the supplement. I think they were just trying to say, "Remember that the deadline is today! But we will still be accepting applications that roll in a few days later, so don't freak yourself out." Thank God they take pity on us procrastinators. :)

Hmmm,
I wonder if there would be a negative affect to submitting it later.

But by the time I got the email,
I had already mailed off my supplement.

Oh well

makes me wonder if they, like other schools, are seeing a decline in applications for the RD round. anyone know?

Last I heard CMC was running ahead in ED and Regular Decision applications.

I read that several colleges had extended their deadlines due to the severe weather in several parts of the country which often affected power, shut down schools, etc.

I got a similar worded (or should I say the same) message from Caltech!
