Deadline Extended

yeah that's true.. but why would there be more people applying early decision because of the economy?

and are there more applicants for ED 2 as well?

i hope not! i want to get in so the less people that applied the more of a chance i have!

i second emory lover.

b u m p . . . . . . .

I think that a lot of students are applying Early to colleges especially to ones that offer merit aid like Emory and don't require you to apply ED. For the kids whose parents don't qualify for a lot of financial aid who thought that they would be able to pay full price or more, they are also hurting financially like everyone else. I know of kids who applied Early Action to colleges that offer merit aid (Boston College, Emory, Duke for example) so that they can see if they get merit $$. Then, they applied RD to other highly competitive schools and they'll look at where they got in and if it's truly worth them paying $200M for an Ivy versus getting 2/3 or full merit at a competitive college. Just a thought...It's an extremely competitive class (height of the Baby Boomers) and a rough year economically for everyone! Go figure!

EMORY’S DEADLINE EXTENSION WAS NOT AN INTERNAL DECISION. ALL !!! COLLEGES IN GEORGIA EXTENDED THEIR DEADLINES because of the weather.

Due to unprecedented snow and ice in Atlanta, Emory University has temporarily closed. We realize this winter weather has affected most of the nation, leading to school closings, power outages, and issues with the processing of electronic documents.

As a result, we have elected to postpone the Regular Decision deadline for Emory University until February 1st. Adjusting the deadline should provide you and your high schools with some extra time to complete and submit application materials.

and EMORY DID NOT EXTEND THE DEADLINE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO LOOK MORE SELECTIVE. that’s really stupid because seriously competitive applicants would not even apply after the deadline. so why would they waste their time reading applications that they know will not be worth it.

You do realize that this thread is from two years ago…

^ He/She says “we have elected…” so I wonder if maybe this person is a Georgian school adcom or something? Maybe even for Emory?

Fallen: Don’t read so much into it. That’s exactly what the website says about the extension.
