Deadline for Music Supplement?

The MIT website says this about the music supplement.

"If you are thinking about submitting a music portfolio, please try to submit it by November 1 if you are an Early Action applicant."

Is Nov. 1st a strict deadline for the supplement? My piano teacher has been going through eye surgery for the past two weeks and so I haven't wanted to bother him with this matter, and he wasn't finished with the recommendation before surgery. Do I need to have the music recommendation in by Nov. 1st? I will have the rest of the supplement in by then, but I would prefer not to push him to finish it right now if I don't have to.

It will be fine to have the recommendation in a little late.

You can consider whether you’d like to wait until your teacher is feeling better to send the package, or if you would rather submit the rest of the package with a short note indicating that the recommendation will be coming, so the music staff can know to hold off on evaluating you until the recommendation comes in. The option you pick will probably depend on how late the recommendation is – if it’s a day or two, the former will be fine, while if it’s more like a week or two, the latter might be preferable.
