Hi, just sent out my part 2 two days ago, got confirmation email saying: “All transcripts and recommendations, as well as financial information, must be received by the deadline.” I thought deadline was a postmark date??
Im asking this cause I sent out my recos on Dec 22nd and they still havent arrived… good old usps…

I think you should be fine. Mine didn't show up til a little after the deadline and it was fine. I didn't even decide to apply early until about a week before the deadline, so...yeah, my recs were there none too early.

i sure hope so. but i think ill call them just so i dont get stuck after deadline

I thought Jan 1 was a postmark deadline!!!

I was planning to just send everything on the 30th...

. *. ***.

I don't think they are processing this week (Brown is closed), so it shouldn't be a big deal.

I really dont get it why all colleges are closed at time of deadline (except those with jan 15th deadline) as its the busiest time of the year ... they should either stay open (excpet for dec 25 and jan 1 only) or change deadline... earlier or later i dont care but at least they should be open...

What about external recomendations (not one of the two required), can they be sent after the first?

the 1st is the postmark date

not according to the confirmation email they sent....

The 1st is always the postmark date (or the 31st, 10th, 15th, etc.). Unless for other specific circumstances (perhaps financial aid, scholarships, atheletics, early, etc.), the major colleges and universities use the same idea.

It would be pointless for them to turn down the many applicants whose applications arrive on the 2nd, 3rd, etc., and even slightly late postmarks will probably be fine (they still want the best freshman pool).

Also, there is no one there on the 1st to pick it up.

And most importantly, (NO MAIL ON THE 1st). There is no way for them to recieve it by then. The reason it is the 1st and not the 31st of December (Princeton does the 2nd, Yale pushed to the 4th), is for online apps. It is 100% impossible for them to recieve USPS mail on the 1st (although I am not sure about $$$$$$ prices for special UPS or FedEx mail).
