So, semi-last-minute, I decided to add a school to my list of places to apply. The problem is, the deadline is comparatively early at December 1. I'd like to apply for this school, but from the perspective of my rec writers, is this too soon? I realize they're already going to quite some trouble for me and I'd like to minimize the stress they have to deal with. Is ~1 month an acceptable time frame? I really have no clue...

A month is plenty of time, especially if they have already agreed to write letters. Extra letters are not a problem since they’ll probably submit the same recommendation, more or less, to all programs.

Not in the slightest. After they write the initial letter, all they have to do is change the school name (if they mentioned it) and paste it into the form. It takes very little time and the person writing expects to do a lot of schools, so it’s implied when you ask that they fulfill that. Unless you add 30 schools 1 day before the deadline, you are not imposing at all.
