deadline

I know this might be asked several times. But what is the precise deadline to turn in the application online?
11.59pm 1/1/2007? or 00.00am 1/1/2007?

bump.. Thanks

bump...again

Since the postmark/submission deadline is Jan. 1, that means "sometime during the day called Jan. 1". It's probably a good idea to get it done before then, though.

thanks, I just want to double check my application until the last minute. :)

Remember that there is sometimes a heavy load on the servers at the last minute. You may want to submit before that last minute.

I will submit around 6pm that day.

yeahhhh... last year the servers crashed on the last day, because of all the people doing last minute work on their applications. I strongly recommend submitting before the deadline.

So... if you send it in on Jan 2nd they won't even look at it?

If you have special cicumstances...

Reasonably speaking, if you could get it in on Jan 2., major external factors not intervening, you could probably also get it in on Jan 1. Don't push the deadline. It's that easy.

They might well read it, but it would almost certainly get marked down, unless they were feeling particularly magnamious.

True story: My brother 20 years ago applied a day late to Stanford. He wrote his essay about how he had a terrible habit of procrastinating as evinced by his late application. He got in. But I don't recommend this as an approach just because it worked once. I think he was extraordinarily lucky, and I think that the rest of his application was exemplary.

I would suggest that you submit your application on December 30th at the latest. Last year the servers crashed on that last year if memory serves. Fortunately, my daughter had submitted her around the 20th so she had 11 days to resubmit if there were computer problems on either end.

If you attend MIT next year you will learn in short order that procrastination is NOT something that you want to do.

Good luck with the application. Review it this week and try to submit it on Friday before the weekend onslaught on the servers.
