Dealing with large crowds to/from class

So i recently transferred to ASU Tempe campus and walking from class to class is nothing short of horrible. Its bad, there are people on bikes, skateboards, on foot, and I've stopped going to some classes due to it. Supposedly the school hit a record high in attendance, and its very apparent. Anyone else go through this? Tips on how to deal with it?

Why’ve you stopped going to class because of this? I find similar crowds at my university and I’ve almost been hit once or twice by bikes (and some athletes on their school-given mopeds–screw that man), but I don’t see anything abnormal about crowds.

I agree that this isn’t really a reason to stop going to class. Is it just that there’s a lot of people and that makes you uncomfortable or annoyed? Or do the large number of students make it harder to get to class on time? You could always let your professor know that you’ll be a couple of minutes late because your class is far away.

You could try to find alternate routes that are less traveled. I went to class a lot of weird ways when I was an undergraduate because they were often more direct routes, but because they were off of main pathways, there were often fewer students going that way. You could also go to class early to avoid the large crowds that form in between classes, and just bring something to do while you’re waiting for the class before yours to get out. You could also go to class a couple of minutes late (although that’s not ideal) or leave class a few minutes early to avoid the big rush between classes. I knew other students who would bike from class to class and would take longer routes because of this. It avoided stairs and big hills and because they were indirect, they avoided the path of many students, but it took them about the same time as if they had walked directly there. Perhaps, there’s even a campus shuttle that you could take from one end of campus to another so you at least don’t have to walk through crowds.

But really, I don’t see what’s the big deal about just walking through crowds. Is it an anxiety thing? If it’s interfering with your life, perhaps you should talk to someone about it.
