Dean J -- Important questions

My parents and I have immigrated to the U.S. in '90 and have lived in VA since. I've received education only in America. Just before 9/11, we registered for our Green Cards. Currently, we are in the final stage of the process; we are only waiting for the interview to be scheduled for us in order to obtain the Green Card.

According to our family attorney, I should note that our Green Card status is "I-485 pending," and that it should be fine if I were to apply as a permanent resident of the U.S., even though we have not officially received our Green Card.

And yes, we have lived permanently in VA for more than a year, have a valid driver's licence and motor vehicle registration, regularly filed VA income taxes, and the like.

With that, I have these questions:
1. What should I apply as -- a permanent resident of the U.S., or an international student?
2. As noted above, our family attorney says that I should write "pending status adjustment" for the citizenship/visa status. How should I indicate that, if I should?
3. Do I receive in-state privileges when applying to UVa?

(I emailed the admissions office about this a while ago, and they indicated that I needed to be more specific about my current visa status; so I emailed them back, but they still want more info...???)

Please help! Thank you

oops sorry, i meant "I-485 pending" instead of "pending status adjustment" in #2

Please call the Office of Admission and ask to speak with the Virginia Status Office.

All, please understand that I am not "here" every day, especially at this time of year. I stop by occastionally. If you have questions about UVA, please call the Office of Admission.
